STAY HOME // Simple Shape x London Craft Week

Stay Home + Stay Home Dinner
Wednesday 3rd to Sunday 7th May 2017. 10am - 7pm*
Simple Shape Studio, Ashby Mews, London, SE4 1TE

Two years ago I 'conveniently' coincided the launch of Simple Shape with the inaugural London Craft Week - an initiative that I was sure would be a great thing for UK craft and I secretly hoped that at some point in the future Simple Shape would be able to participate. Fast forward to this May 2017 and I am very proud to announce that Simple Shape will be presenting STAY HOME, an exhibition of crafted pieces that recognises our homegrown British craft talent and celebrates the simple pleasure of staying-in and dinning at home.

[*except Friday 5th May exhibition closes at 5pm]

When I began Simple Shape I decided that I only ever wanted to work with 'good people, making good things' so, sticking firmly to my founding principal for this special exhibition I have gathered together a small group of truly excellent makers, who also happen to be really great people! Held in our Studio in South East London and open to the public, the exhibition will centre round a dining table made by the award-winning British furniture designer Sebastian Cox. We will lay the table with hand thrown ceramic place settings by the emerging talent Florian Gadsby and ceramic accessories by the potter Elliott Denny. These will sit alongside brand new work from wood worker Luke Hope who in a departure from his elegant spoon work will show striking wooden platters.

In addition to the exhibition I am really excited to be hosting Stay Home Dinner. Very simply, a dinner, at home. Given that avocado on toast is my culinary masterpiece I won't be cooking! An incredible three course dinner is being designed and created by chef, food stylist and event producer Olivia Bennett. Dinner guests will be invited to view the exhibition, enjoy specially created cocktails and take part in a making event. They will then join the exhibitions Makers for dinner and conversation.
